History
The Village of East Dundee
Pioneers founded the original community of Dundee (named for the Scottish home of one of
the settlers) on the western banks in the early 1800's. As the young settlement grew,
however several residents decided to expand to the eastern bank and founded what would
become known as East Dundee.
Much of what attracted those early settlers to the area is still in evidence today, the
beautiful Fox River Valley setting, the country charm, and the proximity to major centers
of commerce, transportation and culture.
